John Paul Massey died from head and neck injuries in the attack at his grandmother's home in Wavertree.
Merseyside Police said the dog was a "pitbull terrier-type", a breed banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act. A criminal investigation has begun.
The force has apologised after earlier reports of dog breeding at the Ash Grove property were not followed up.
In February, a housing officer told police residents had complained about suspected dog breeding but were told it was not a police matter.

Seriously, I don't know if any Americans will know this but basically we have illegal dog breeds in the UK, they types used for Dog-fighting and the breed of Dog came into existence because of specific breeding (A lovely show of Evolution, no?) these Dogs are overly aggressive and strong, able to kill most people if they honestly wanted to, now, in some areas of the UK teenagers have these Dogs just to be feared, you'll see kids walking down the streets with them on leads and extreme cases use them to attack people (They can be trained fairly easily) or mug people.

It's disgusting and something REALLY needs to be done about this.

Reminds me of the lady that got attacked by the chimp for some reason.
There's plenty of dog breeds that can be used for protection.
Bucca's super sweet but he'd attack someone who tried to hurt me for sure. :/

They have the same law where I live because some 5 year old got her face messed up by a pitbull, however it's less strict, as you gotta keep them either encased or inside.

I have a French bulldog.. and I have to say.. even it's a small dog.. you don't want him angry or biting you..
French Bulldog's are used during fights with a bull... If the bull got to dangerous.. they had to bite the bull in the balls..

But I feel sorry for the kid..

banana? She was there at almost a daily base, making contact with the gorilla.. He got angry because his 'female' (as he saw her). Always walked away from him, so he came to get her. It was her own fault because she was always bulling the Gorilla.. I don't think I want a fight with a grown silver back. XD

But the same is with dog's, If you buy one, you need to know the breed. If you don't know it.. LEARN ABOUT THEM! XD Some dog's are dangerous..

My dog stays small but.. I think he can damage you badly if he want to.. He's way stronger than you think when he's sleeping so peacefully.

I once walked the dog of a friend (a German shepherd) when I needed to pull it next to me.. So I did it as hard I needed to do with my own dog. But I almost did let the dog fly.. (that was the feeling because it was so damn easy.. XD with mine I need to pull a few times)

Not al dogs of an illegal race is mean, my mom had a friend with 2 pitbulls.. they got killed by blabla when they took al pitbulls from there owner.. Those pitbulls never had bitten someone..

The Labrador are on the first place of suddenly attacking for nothing... I don't see people suddenly kill all Labrador's because of that?

My little brother got attacked by a German shaperd (the same I almost gave flying classes) twice by the same dog..

And last a Boxer almost had bitten me in the back..

Dog's are still animals and can't fix things with there hands so they use there mouth.
