Gohan should've been main character?

Okay so in the beginning of Dragonball Z we all saw Gohan's hidden power.
Then in the Cell Saga Gohan turned Super Saiyan 2 because of his hidden power and beat the shit out of Cell.

A lot of people thought (atleast i did) that he was going to be the main character.
I mean it sounds "perfect"; Goku dies anyway but not with a stupid heart disease.
Gohan's powers finally awaken and he's a lot stronger then the other Z fighters and he becomes the new main character.

The "build up" for his character was really good but then in the Buu saga Goku came back all of a sudden.
That was just..lame


Anyway do you think Gohan should've become the main character after the Cell saga?

I'm one of those people who argue that Gohan is indeed the main character, He's the strongest non-fusion Character we saw in Dragonball Z, beating the shit out of Super Buu and only just being weaker than Gotenks/Piccolo Super Buu.

Cute Gohan!! =D There was once a char in DBZ who I saw as a little kid.. (long before I knew about cosplay) I wanted to be her... =0 I think I need those series again.. to see who she is.. (Gohan met her when he was all alone in the start of DBZ xD)
